Our Curriculum and Experience

The Ontario Self Defence Centre & Wu Xin Martial Arts Whitby is a professional training centre.  We have put in place a structured curriculum that we believe will elevate you or your child to the greatest heights of your true potential. It is great fun for all ages and is focused on character development and life-skills education. We believe and teach traditional martial arts values such as respect, discipline and perseverance.  We balance our teachings with progressive and innovative methods to help you succeed in life. Everything you learn at our centre is focused on real self-defence and personal safety. The term ‘self-defence’ is not a label attached to every type of school, here at the Ontario Self Defence Centre & Wu Xin Martial Arts Whitby we teach the real thing.

An Uplifting, Clean & Safe Environment

The Ontario Self Defence Centre offers an environment that is fun, safe and challenging. Martial arts training requires weapons-handling, falling and landing on cushioned mats, and doing exercises and drills that require getting down on the floor. As such, we take great pride in keeping our matted floors impeccably clean, and our equipment is safe and up to date. The moment you walk through our doors, you’ll notice that we take great care of our kwoon – because we want you to have a great experience here.

Our classes are designed for men, women and children of all ages, shapes and sizes, our centre itself has become a community of learning and growth. Entire families train with us here. Kids train with kids. Adults train with adults. Lots of our members live within walking distance of each other, and many are friends outside of our classes. The result: a close, family-like sense of community here. And the moment you join our classes, you’ll feel right at home with this community. Students who have been training for a while help out the beginners. Exercises often require partners, and students take advantage of this to encourage and cheer each other on. No one is competing with anyone else here. No one is trying to “show off” or “out do” the next person. Everyone just wants to learn and grow and help each other out.

Take your time browsing around our website. You’ll find information on all of our programs, get an understanding of what we teach, and most importantly give it a try.

See and experience our professional centre, spend some time with us to feel what can be gained through learning a fun, effective & balanced Martial Art.

I can’t wait to meet you in person, and help you reach your goals with martial arts.

Whether you’re looking for fitness, inner-growth, or self-defence – we’ll help you get there.
